Chapter 2: Resurrection

My life is gone.

I’m dead.

But I did get a nice headstone though.

It’s raining again, not surprising though, it IS Seattle after all. The graveyard have such an atmosphere of serenity, especially now, when the light drizzle of rain seems to shut out the noise and the fumes of the city around me.

I have no business here; this is no place for the living, no matter what my headstone says. I am dead, yet alive, the dead arisen from the grave, the phoenix reborn from the ashes.

Whoever wiped out my past and a week of my memories made a thorough job. I no longer have a SIN, not even one of my fake ones. My home has been destroyed and the last hideout was looted. But I still got my skills. That’s more than enough.

I wonder what my friends will say when I show up alive and kicking? I need a drink; McKinley’s should be open by now.

Riggs McKinley owns my favorite watering hole simply known as McKinley’s. It was lunchtime and I expected the usual crowd to be there. Sure, the atmosphere was the same and so was the smell of food, but the crowd was wrong, very wrong.

I shouldered my way to the bar looking for Riggs when I came upon the bartender, a somewhat stout man. “Hey, where is Riggs?”

The bartender gave me glance and continued polishing the glass he held, “There is no one working here by that name.”

“What do you mean ‘work’ here? He owns the place?”

Two burly orks had now shouldered their way to my location and promptly lifted me by my arms and carried me to the door. Something wasn’t right; a blind man could see that. Unfortunately I needed information, since my Deck is now a lump of melted circuits I’m not exactly left with many choices.

What the hell has happened? Has my very existence been wiped out from the universe? I can’t reach ANY of my friends, or contacts for that matter. Not even Harvey is around. He might be able to repair my Deck, or get me a new one.

Well, Celine is home at least, or rather, WAS home, she won’t be going anywhere anymore. At least this proves that I’m not mad, my friends exist and someone has either scared them off or is in the process of killing them - Why?

They made it look like a burglary gone wrong, what a load of bullshit. No burglar could have gotten inside her apartment and lived, not with three Elementals living in there with her.

Whoever did it is either awakened, powerful, or has the money to hire someone for the job. So why am I still alive?  And who shot the two Jon Doe’s in the Barrens?

I have to many questions and no answers in sight.

First things first, I need a Deck and a Jackpoint.

Out of what place? The run down apartment. Good point, perhaps an add-on that he/she/it was never locked inside it...

Hmm...Feelings, very good point, that was one angle I should get back to since I focused a lot of getting the "mystery" going and saved a lot of character development until later...Well, it could be shock?
